National Vapers Club, Inc. Announces Initial Funding of Bystander Exposure Assessment Research Study

National Vapers Club pledges the initial seed money to support new e-cigarette vapor study, the Bystander Exposure Assessment Research Study (BEARS).
Port Chester, NY – National Vapers Club (“NVC”) was founded in 2009 as the preeminent organization to support education of the electronic cigarette to industry participants and promote responsible manufacturing of vaping products. Today, NVC (www.vapersclub.com) announces it has pledged the initial seed money to support the Bystander Exposure Assessment Research Study (BEARS).
In 2012, NVC funded the first research study comparing the effects of e-cigarette vapor and cigarette smoke on indoor air quality (IVAQs). BEARS is a continuation of its earlier research efforts, funded by money raised at its semi-annual industry convention, Vapefest. The company has retained Dr. Timothy R. McAuley, an internationally recognized expert in air quality and human health exposure assessment. Dr. McAuley, who is a leader in providing scientific information for driving electronic cigarette policy, will be executing a novel investigation to assess the potential impacts of electronic cigarette vapor and impacts on bystander exposures.

As currently planned, the study will be performed in a multi-floor shared ventilation system building in order to assess the dispersion and migration path of the vapors throughout the designated building’s multi-floor shared ventilation system. This study will also assess the migration path of the vapor to various areas around the building. The anticipated results will allow Dr. McAuley and his team to fill a very large existing data gap in current scientific literature which will provide direct evidence to better understand (i) any alleged potential risks to people living in shared ventilation system buildings and (ii) whether or not concern is warranted regarding exposures to residences of non-electronic cigarette users that may living in close proximity to users and concerned over potential exposures through shared ventilation systems.

The remaining funds for the research study will be raised by various industry leader sponsors, consumer donations, and attendee support for Miami Vapefest 2015 which will be held on September 18 and 19, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida. A special, interactive panel of experts has been assembled for Miami Vapefest in order to address current legislative hot topics on both the federal and state level and this panel will be convened midday on September 18 during Vapefest Miami. Sponsorship of the event is welcomed as is public attendance of adults over 18 years of age.
